About the Author
Christopher Was is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Kent State University. He began his career working in a residential treatment facility for adjudicated youth as a teacher and research coordinator for the Odyssey Project, sponsored by the Child Welfare League of America. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Utah in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis in learning, memory and cognition. His research interests are in the areas of models of working memory, complex cognitive processes, and metacognition. More recently his research has focused on implicit learning processes and their relationship to intelligence. Dr. Was uses eye tracking technologies in his research to investigate the connection between implicit cognitive processing and the explicit learning that results from these processes. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and refereed conference proceedings in the areas of learning, educational psychology, and cognitive psychology.

Frank J. Sansosti, Ph.D., NCSP is an Associate Professor in the School Psychology at Kent State University. He has extensive experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in both school and clinic settings. As a practitioner he provided coaching and technical assistance for early intervention and best practice approaches for students with low-incidence disabilities in inclusive settings, and coordinated efforts between parents, teachers, administrators, and district level personnel. Currently, Dr. Sansostis primary research and professional interests focus on the development and implementation of behavioral and social skills interventions for individuals with developmental delays, as well as the use of eye-tracking technologies as a tool for investigating the academic and social difficulties of students with disabilities. Dr. Sansosti is an active researcher, as evidence by over 40 publications and more than 75 professional workshops at local, regional, national, and international venues.

Bradley J. Morris is a Developmental Cognitive Scientist whose research program includes basic research in cognitive development and its application in designing and assessing effective STEM instruction in formal and informal settings. His research focuses on the development of Scientific and Mathematical reasoning and Motivation. The goal of his research program is to identify mechanisms underlying childrens reasoning (e.g., strategy acquisition) and motivation (e.g., praise type) using a variety of experimental methods (e.g., eye tracking), technological implementations (e.g., apps that measure informal STEM engagement), and computational models.

Finally a photo book for actual Vietnam Veteran

Greetings, finally a photo book that actually shows operational practices of the M42A1 'Twin Forty' 40MM "Duster" in action, IN VIETNAM!
I purchased this book directly from Ampersand before it was commercially available.

If you served on this crew served weapon in Vietnam and do not have many surviving photos from Nam, this is the book you need to have. Each photo has been carefully researched and edited and annotated with specific names and locations. The first third is largely historical (Pre-Vietnam) and the last third is a detailed walk-around of the fully restored Dusters at the Tank Farm in Nokesville, VA. The middle third is chock full of actual photos shot by members of the three Duster Battalions that served in Vietnam from 1967 - 1971. You might even find a picture of your own 'track' (as we called them, it is not a tank!). Each photo was selected to show some pertinent aspect of how the weapon was used in Vietnam. Get this book! Take it to the VA and show them what you did and how it was used. There were only about 100 Dusters in Vietnam at the same time. People, historians, administrators do not know anything about these weapons or the hardship and sacrifices of the crews that served on them and the men that supported them in the field. These WERE COMBAT SOLDIERS!! Fighting alongside the Marines, the Infantry and the Artillery. They protected them on the road during the day and at the firebases at night. A truly unsung branch of the military service in Vietnam, overlooked and unheralded...UNTIL NOW!!!

Interesting book about the history of this unique machine. There are some great photos of the Duster in training and combat. For further reading, check out "Duster Duty, 1967"

Perfect Intermingling

Unhappily Ever After, where the plot's made up and the rules don't matter...ahaha. Three Kings. Three Queens. Ill pairings and unsettled unhappiness all around...Until Queen Cinderella decides to hatch a plot.

The Good: The satire and wit were in the spotlight, Clarke writing wonderfully between a casual narrative and an upright, proper story. I cringed a few times, expecting a bit of overwhelming crass from a few characters (who shall be left unnamed; I think you'll know them when you see them), and yet, I was relieved that the raunch stayed at bare minimum. And was still sort of funny.

The Bad: I can't really say. I don't remember anything 'bad' about it.

The Overall: If you want gritty, over-the-top action, a story that rushes you through the exposition, and one that takes itself far too seriously, you will be disappointed. Clarke understands the narrative of this story very well, and thus, the pacing and narrative takes itself about as seriously as the original Batman. However, Clarke does great at keeping all the terms and concepts inside of a Fairytale Land, even down to explaining why there's a TV in every palace. This book was great, and is worth the read.

I'm a big fan of Lucinda E Clarke. I have read several of her books and this is the main reason I was attracted to this book. Normally I am not a fan of comedy in books so that is probably my starting point. Humour is a very personal thing and I suspect my sense of humour has been warped with age. My sense is that this book will have a great deal of appeal to most but unfortunately I only got the edge of it which to be fair I believe would be a truly personal thing. I could be thrown off by the style I'm used to from Lucinda but whatever the reason it shouldn't take away too much from the book as it stands. It is funny, there is an intelligence here in often simple humour that shines through in the style and quality of the writing and if you enjoy humour in books generally, then I feel you will enjoy this particular book. The humour and style is quite British which as a neighbouring Irishman means I am quite familiar with it and if this is you cup of tea so to speak, then certainly Unhappily ever after will be a joy to you. Love Lucinda's work, pick this up and go find her more serious work too, she is a joy to behold.

A Fun Read

This is the kind of book to read if one is feeling down and blue, because it will pick up your spirits. It speculates what a hundred year marriage would be like between Cinderella and Prince Charming. Cinderella becomes an overweight glutton and wants a divorce. Intertwine other royals like Snow White, Prince Harold, Beauty and Prince Augustus,a slew of royal brats, and the story is an enjoyable and light read, full of wry humor and equally idiotic peasant characters. In the end, divorce is finally allowed in fantasyland and everyone lives happily ever after. Well written and descriptive.
