Not for beginners.

This book is a more condensed and advanced text than many available in the market. It is clearly not for the novice and not recommended for light reading. Its mainly a reference grammer that is more compact than wright's but one which incorporates the finer points of classical arabic. If you are a beginner this may not be the book for you. Wrights would be a better option for you, or if you are interested in something thinnner Nahmad and haywood would be perfect. Once you gain a grasp of the language and would like a grammer strictly for reference only then this book might suit you.

A reference grammar for arabic students and teachers

'A Grammar of Classical Arabic' by Professor Wolfdietrich Fischer is arguably one of the reference grammar books in arabic, not only for students but also for teachers. I use this book quite extensively for the details it provides on a number of very specific topics, where smaller pocket grammars cannot help. For an even more comprehensive book on arabic grammar, I believe the only option is French linguist and orientalist Silvestre de Sacy's 'Grammaire arabe à l’usage des élèves de l’École Spéciale des Langues Orientales Vivantes', first published in 1810.

this is the best summary i've seen, he covers all major categories illustrated with many examples, i can't recommend another book more highely
